Low Energy Creating High Energy Results

Huel group product shot

Huel products are all about powering up your health and energy and caring about the environment, and the reason Huel love using Resource is we share the same values and, of course, consistently bringing their product and point of sale designs to life.

Huel has a simple but very effective mission statement…

As a business we are incredibly conscious of our own environment, so this very much aligns with our own beliefs, as we focus on using sustainable materials, low energy processes and a stringent waste management that focuses on minimizing this aspect as much as we can.

For Huel, we were tasked to produce some visually stunning boxes and point of sale material, and whilst the finished products were incredibly pleasing, maintaining that focus on being kind to the environment, through the process, was important.

All materials used are fully recyclable, as you would expect, but the most important aspect of this project is how we produce the high varnish finish that dominates the Huel Brand on their packaging.

After the visual is initially printed with our range eco-friendly inks, the image is then over-printed with a clear ink and then cured under LED ultraviolet lighting.  This allows the amazing shine to really stand out from the raw material of the box, whilst maintaining super-low energy consumption.

Being a busy printing business, ink is obviously fundamental to our work, so we are proud that we have invested in the very best, which means both incredible quality but also VERY eco-friendly.

  • Greenguard Certified for Safety
  • Solvent and VOC Free
  • No Drying Process (low energy)
  • Quality Ink = Lower Consumption
  • Versatile to all Materials

Whilst innovation within the print industry continues to progress that largely focuses on speed and multi-functionality, the importance of the raw materials being used and the impact on our environment will always remain our primary focus.

Poultry In Motion

Poultry In Motion Brochure and Chicken

It’s fair to say that we, at Resource, are well versed in the unusual, but when our client, Publicis Groupe, got in touch about their latest requirement, well we let’s just say we very needed to get a breast of the situation very swiftly and we needed to hatch a plan.

To start with we needed to produce 12 life size Chickens, which needed to be couped in a high-quality presentation box, which then turned into a display stand.  The box had to be printed with a specific design so that when the user logged onto the clients app, the Chicken would magically spring into life and ruffle some feathers.

In addition to this, was a beautifully casebound sales aid which included a video screen within the book. We needed to find some hen-credible technology to get this done.

It was clear this project was going to be no yolk, and had to be planned egg-xactly.  There could be no room for wing-ing it.

To turn the pixels into plumage, the Chicken was 3D printed from hard coated polystyrene and each one was meticulously hand painted to such a high standard, you genuinely had to double take to make sure this wasn’t a real Chicken. The finished product was brooding brilliant.

Bespoke wooden and branded crates where then produced to scramble the Chicken and the books around the world.

Projects with so many aspects to it are egg-credibly rewarding to be involved in, but of course part of the planning was finding a pecking order for them to be completed in.

The whole job was far more than just a featherweight champion of design and production. Creating razor sharp roostery realism, has proven to be one of the most talked about products we’ve ever produced.  Now we need to go and drum(stick) up some more avian business.

A Challenge of Metallic Proportions…

Spacegoods Window display

Being an approved provider of window displays to Whole Foods Market, we were kindly introduced to Spacegoods, leading providers within the functional mushroom market.

Launched in 2022, Spacegoods has quickly become one the most recognizable brands on some very busy shop shelves. It was designed to be just that, with its stunning pink and blue metallic packaging that gives it it’s unique eye-catching ability.

Re-creating metallic printed packaging is incredibly challenging, but given the time and crucial importance that Spacegoods had put into their branding, it was equally as a critical we developed a way to display this feature on the over-sized point-of-sale items.

After a few trial runs, some successful, some not, we found the formula that meant producing a metallic finish with just printing methods, was achieved. We matched the fluorescent pink and blue and the result was one of the most pleasing products we have possibly ever produced.

The 4 Day Candy Kitten Challenge

Candy Kitten Window Display Corner

When the gourmet sweet company Candy Kittens contacted us for an important window display that needed producing and installing, all seemed quite straight forward.  Then the kicker…” we need this in 4 days’ time”

The display required vinyl window graphics, over-sized packaging, which needed hanging, and fitted astro turf laid on the display floor. All straight forward, but quite time consuming when producing bespoke products from scratch.

But that wasn’t all.

Part of the window in question was a curved design, and we needed to design and produce a framework than would fit seamlessly against the window, creating a pocket that meant over 5000 packets of Candy Kitten packets could be safely displayed.

4-days for a project of this size and nature was incredibly tight, but we did have a few aspects in our favor. Firstly, we have installed displays before in this location, so we know the layout and what we were dealing with. Secondly, we keep a huge variety of materials in stock, meaning we weren’t relying on our own supply chain to help us keep our promise. And thirdly, a dedicated team of people willing to work the extra hours this would undoubtedly take.

It was close, very close, but in just under 4-days from the phone calls and emails that set the wheels in motion, Candy Kittens had their designs brought to life and on display to the users of London’s pavements, and 5000 packets of their delicious sweets, securely positioned behind the glass and the bespoke frame to tempt people to try their range of healthy treats.

Mission, and it was a mission, accomplished.

A very happy and grateful client – our favorite kind – was secured.

Old & Tired to Fresh & Inspiring

North Hertfordshire College Signage

When Tired & Old Becomes Inspiring & Fresh

When North Hertfordshire College embarked on the new venture of establishing SITEC – (Stevenage Innovation & Technology Centre) the target was to breathe new life to an old and slightly tired campus building with window and wall graphics and various signage.

SITEC aims to provide an inspiring space for local people to learn the skill sets, knowledge and experience to enhance their careers within the Stevenage Technical and Manufacturing (STEM) sector.

Following on from two site visits to conduct detailed measurements, Resource was then tasked to work closely with the in-house marketing team at the College to bring their designs to life.

Once production was completed at the Resource factory, our team spent 4 days on site, taking meticulous care that every aspect of the job was installed and displayed perfectly.

Product Specification for this project was…

  • Diabond with anti-graffiti lamination
  • Drytac Deco Clear Vinyl with anti-graffiti lamination
  • Ultratac White Vinyl with anti-graffiti lamination
  • White & Blue Acrylic

With all the graphics and signs being installed in public areas, the desire to keep it’s pristine delivered condition was high, so using a clear lamination acted as an easy clean of any graffiti or dirty marks.
